About USCHPA

The U.S. Clean Heat and Power Association (USCHPA) brings together diverse market interests to promote the growth of clean, efficient local energy generation in the United States. It is a private, non-profit 501(c)6 trade association, originally formed in 1999 to promote the merits of combined heat and power (CHP) and to achieve public policy support for CHP.  In 2007, the association expanded its focus to include advocacy not only for combined heat and power, but also for recycled energy, bioenergy, and other local generation sources that lead to a demonstrable reduction in global greenhouse gas emissions. USCHPA is working to achieve the goal of a cleaner, more affordable, and more reliable national energy system.

The USCHPA documents the benefits of clean heat and power to the public and decision-makers. The assocation sponsors conferences, workshops, and advocacy events for the benefit of its members and prepares reports and releases to educate the public about clean heat and power. We create opportunities for our members to network with each other and key government officials.

USCHPA participates in federal agency programs to promote CHP, waste energy recovery, and other forms of clean distributed energy. In particular, we are committed to the CHP Program of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the CHP Partnership Program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

USCHPA’s mission is to create a regulatory, institutional and market environment that fosters the use of clean, efficient local energy generation, including but not limited to combined heat and power, recycled energy, bioenergy, and other generation sources that lead to a demonstrable reduction in global greenhouse gas emissions.

USCHPA’s vision is for national electricity system that achieves less pollution, lower costs and greater reliability through the deployment of clean, local generation technologies.
